Captain Shigeru Akachi, Maritime Consultant

Captain Shigeru Akachi was born in 1946 and graduated from the Tokyo Marine Academy in 1965. He joined the Sanko Line in 1965, serving on active duty as a deck officer and master. After his sea tour, he spent five years as a general manager of the Sanko Line, Seattle Office. He resigned from the Sanko Line in 1994 and began work as an independent surveyor. He joined Max Law Office with Mr. Matsui in 1996. He has considerable experience in handling casualty investigation including cargo, collisions, personal injury and oil spills. He frequently visits not only local Japanese ports but also Korea, China, the Philippines, Taiwan and Thailand for casualty investigations. He has also substantial experience in representing our clients as a Marine Proctor in the Maritime Court. He is licensed as a Marine Proctor in the Maritime Court. He is also sub-member of the Japanese Average Adjusters Association. He speaks English and Japanese. He lectured on the Navigational Rules at the Hiroshima Commercial Maritime Academy during 1977 and 1979. His recent study has deeply focused on the ISM code.
